THE WEEKEND REPLAY

Welcome back to this week’s Weekend Replay! I have a bunch of great tunes from the past week, so get your headphones ready.

Starting off rock music this week is Neck Deep with “It Won’t Be Like This Forever.” The punk rock track has love-fueled lyrics over a thumping guitar track. latewaves’ new self-titled album came out on Friday, featuring “Plane” featuring Pollyanna. The song stands out for its sleek guitar riffs and strong vocals throughout, especially on the chorus. Youth Fountain’s “Roses In My Backpack” is an upbeat emo rock cut with a catchy melody and killer vocals. It marks the second single from the act’s upcoming album Together In Lonesome, out Nov. 3. SIZ’s “The Blinded Blind Man” leads their new album Blind, also out now. The track, clocking in at just over five minutes long, amps up and fades out throughout, ending in a flurry of guitar and drums towards the end.

Alternative music is kicked off by Cherry Glazerr’s “Golden” off of their new LP I Don’t Want You Anymore. The jazz-infused experimental pop track utilizes its production to make the song escalate throughout until it swells back down at a halt. hemlocke springs’ “the train to nowhere” is a dreamy indie pop song with a uniquely amazing sound and hits its peak in the choruses (but the whole song is stellar). Up-and-coming indie pop star PinkPantheress dropped her new track “Mosquito.” The singer, songwriter and producer has followed the sound of recent music while also making the new love-soaked song feel entirely unique. Indie group Thank You, I’m Sorry released their new album Growing in Strange Places featuring highlight “Your Backyard.” The indie pop track begins as an acoustic one that grows into a fuller sound of guitars and ends with a horn section. Famed alternative group Wilco’s new album Cousin features the stunningly laidback single “Levee.” The track has a country twang to it and stands out for its ricocheting guitar picking and pedal steel production. Singer-songwriter Corey Kilgannon released “Wash,” a twinkling and mainly acoustic song with vivid lyrics and gentle guitar picking. It was dropped alongside two other tracks on a short EP.

Pop music is led by Nia Hendricks’ “I Never Needed You.” The cut from her newly-released record Some Kind Of Muse has little guitar strums and hums throughout to aid the indie pop singer-songwriter’s stunning voice. To mark the fifth anniversary of his EP summer, Jeremy Zucker released an unreleased cut from it called “this time.” The indie pop track is a more upbeat one that touches on the aftermath of a breakup. Del Water Gap’s “We Will Never Be Like Anybody Else” is a soaring piano ballad this strays from the more upbeat indie pop songs in his discography. With amazingly raw vocals, the track is one of his finest and comes off of his new record I Miss You Already + I Haven’t Left Yet.

That’s all I have for new music this week! Come back next week for another roundup of new tracks. Thanks for tuning in.
