LUNA AURA is Blazing A New Trail with “THE FICTION” EP

The multi-hyphenate, genre-bending alternative artist that is LUNA AURA has been quite the trailblazer for some time now. Since writing music at the early age of fourteen, she has solidified her status as a top-tier singer, songwriter, and producer. And as a performer, LUNA has been on some of the biggest stages and shared the spotlight with a myriad of artists, from P!nk to The Killers and many more.

This week marks the release of LUNA AURA’s Third Studio EP titled, “THE FICTION”. Featuring three previously released tracks, this EP is a powerhouse project that fans and listeners have been waiting for. Each track is a certified headbanger, and each track outdoes the previous one without any signs of stopping.

LUNA AURA opens up the EP with MONEY BAG, her latest released single. MONEY BAG is the classic revenge song. Over a thick wave of sounds, distorted guitars and synths, she sets the tone for the rest of the project by warning people not to mess with her. “Try to ruin my day/Imma ruin your life”, she says, voice cutting through sharp and clean. And she means it!

While LUNA AURA mainly keeps this energy throughout the entire project, she’s able to add these nuances and bring a slightly different vibe in each song. In the third track, CANDY COLORED DAYDREAM, she has a more playful and unbothered vibe. “Ain’t nothing’s gonna phase me/in my candy colored daydream”, she asserts. She makes it clear that there’s always room for fun and play, and doesn’t care about what anyone has to say about that.

Whereas in her fourth track, BLIND, the style and tone is a bit more mellowed, a bit more vulnerable. This is a personal favorite of mine off the EP, as the style is very reminiscent of early 2000s pop punk icons like Liz Phair and Gwen Stefani. More than being angry and uncaring, LUNA AURA simply allows herself to feel frustrated a bit; “you’re not the dream I remember...you’re so blind!”, she says exasperated over the pumping band.

Overall, THE FICTION is a dynamic EP that has depth without taking itself too lightly. If you’re looking for the next Alternative Rock tune to get you through the week, LUNA AURA’s THE FICTION is definitely what you should be listening to.
