The Weekend Replay

Welcome to The Weekend Replay here at Doors at 7! I have a great week of tunes for you this week so get ready for some listening.

Common Sage leads rock music this week with their new track “Hiraeth,” featuring Further Seems Forever and Jason Gleason. The song follows the band’s recent full-length album It Lives and It Breathes and has one of the coolest guitar tracks I have heard in recent weeks. Jeff Sahyoun’s project ERASE THEORY released their new single “Man Overboard.” The track is an electronic-infused alternative cut with sleek production and polished songwriting. Canadian nu metal band Flash Back dropped “Drip So Slow” off of their upcoming debut full-length LP of the same name that comes out Oct. 27. The song has cutting guitar riffs and a solid vocal performance. Youth Fountain announced their new album Together in Lonesome due out Nov. 3, led by the new single “Fallen Short.” It touches on turbulent relationships and trying to find “the one.” Brooklyn’s post-hardcore group Stay Inside dropped their second single of 2023 so far, “An Invitation.” The indie rock track touches on themes of love and death across distorted percussion and even horns at one point. New Jersey rock group LATEWAVES released their new song “Frog,” a playful track that is one of the best in indie rock from the past week, invoking a feeling of nostalgia from its production.

Mitski leads this week’s roundup of alternative music. The singer-songwriter’s sweeping ballad “My Love Mine All Mine” is off of her new album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We. The track contemplates on the worth of her ability to love compared to the worth of everything else in her life. Big Thief released the B-Side companion to their hit “Vampire Empire” with this past week’s “Born For Loving You.” The retro-sounding alternative cut is a laid back love song from the band. Brighton indie rock group I Feel Fine released their new EP Hiking Trails and the titular song is a must-listen. Featuring groovy guitar licks and production that ricochets between genres like acoustic alternative and indie rock, it is a stunning track. Brooklyn-based indie group Boston Flowers released their debut record Mondegreen, featuring the highlight “Go in the Shower.” The song is an indie rock track that highlights the group’s production style. Alternative rock artist Luna Aura released her new EP THE FICTION on Thursday with standout track “BLIND.” The song highlights Aura’s stunning vocals leading instrumentals that are very reminiscent of late 2000’s alternative music. Indie group Moxie’s “Where the Day Goes” is a pop-heavy alternative track that shines for its vocal performance and production that feels unique in the genre.

Madison Beer’s new record Silence Between Songs came out on Friday with the stunning track “Envy the Leaves.” It is a slow burn synth-based song that has an explosive outro reminiscent of Tame Impala (crazy combo but it works so very well). Pop rock group Broadside dropped “Lucid” featuring Devin Papadol. The poppy track utilizes a glitchy beat and blends the two vocalists’ voices together perfectly. Declan McKenna’s “Nothing Works” came with the announcement of his new album What Happened To The Beach? due out early next year. The British indie pop star’s new song is one of his finest yet that evolves throughout and completely breaks down on the bridge with a change in production.

That is all I have for this week’s Weekend Replay! Come back next week in the same spot for another great week in music. Thanks for tuning in.
